Kobe was one of the first cities to open for trade with the West following the end of the policy of seclusion and has since been known as a cosmopolitan port city. Wedged in between the coast and the mountains, Kobe is long and narrow.
Kobe Port Tower
Kobe Port Tower is beautifully lit up in the evening. A giant ferris wheel sits in nearby Harborland, a newly emerging waterfront promenade. It bustles with visitors who enjoy the famed night view of this great port city well into the night.
Kobe Beef
The city is the point of origin and namesake of world-famous Kobe Beef. The Japanese Wagyu breed of cattle are raised according to strict traditions which may include a diet of saké and beer, and daily massages to relieve muscle stiffness and stress.
