The Olympic Games (aka The Olympics or The Games) is an international multi-sport event (including football) held every 4 years for all nations worldwide, organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The Olympics is the oldest international tournament in world football. The football tournament of the Olympics climaxed in the 1920s when it was the de-facto world championship until the FIFA World Cup came to be in 1930, leaving the tournament to amateurs and little interest. In a 1992 deal with FIFA to ensure the FIFA World Cup's football prominence, all teams must have under-23 year old players and a maximum of 3 over-aged players.
The ancient Olympic Games began in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece. The modern Olympics were revived in 1896.
